Star teaches trick of the trade

Renowned actress and author Brumilda van Rensburg will be putting wannabe actors through their paces in her upcoming TV,Film and Drama Course.

Renowned actress and author Brumilda van Rensburg will be putting wannabe actors through their paces in her upcoming TV, Film and Drama Course that will run over seven Saturdays from 3 August to 21 September.

The course focuses on teaching professionally trained and novice actors the ins and outs of performing on camera.

Whereas most acting courses teach stage work, Brumilda’s course uses her 20 plus years of experience working on screen in such memorable roles as Louwna in Egoli to teach aspiring actors the skills and tricks required to work in South Africa’s exploding television and film industry.

The course allows people of all ages to fulfil their dreams of being working actors by helping, guiding and in the case of a talented few; receiving representation and a foot in the door as being signed as a client of Brumilda’s acting agency at the end of the course. In an effort to foster an up and coming talent Brumilda will even offer the course free of charge to one super talented applicant.

The course also has an added benefit even for those with no interest in acting: a deeper awareness of yourself and others.

“Get to know yourself, be creative and empower yourself, improve communication skills.

How to handle castings auditions, the industry of commercials, theatre, TV, film presenting, soaps, musicals, movement, voice, speeches, and dialogue are just some of the skills that will be taught.

“In life you need confidence, energy, talent, concentration, commitment, focus, emotional intelligence, bravery, interpretive skills and maturity,” says Brumilda.

The workshops will take place at Westdene Recreation Centre from 10am to 5pm every Saturday from 3 August to 21 September.

At the end of the seven-week-course each participant will receive a show reel on DVD of his/her performance, a CD with his/her photos and a certificate signed by Brumilda van Rensburg.

The classes are bilingual.
