A spate of robberies, hijacking and even murders continues to haunt motorists and nearby residents.

The latest incident occurred on 3 July when a 37-year-old man driving a delivery truck was hijacked while on his way to deliver motor vehicle spared in Randfontein.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson, Captain Appel Ernst, the Hyundai delivery truck, with registration number BZ 51 BN GP, had stopped at a stop sign when two armed men approached the driver.

They apparently forced the driver to the passenger seat and covered his face before tying his hands and driving off with him in the car.

The man was later dropped off in Soweto from where he managed to get help.

No shots were fired and the driver was not injured during the incident.

The investigating officer, Segeant J Ntuli from Protea Glen VISS unit can be contacted on 011 309 6000 with any information that might aid him in his investigation.
