Suspects’ car overturns during a police chase

A suspect was injured when his car overturned during a high-speed chase by Westonaria police on 25 July.

This happened after a robbery at one of the shops in Glenharvie at approximately 2am.

According to Westonaria spokesperson Thembi Masango, police officers received a phone call from a resident stating that his shop had been robbed.

The complainant also gave police a description of the two vehicles the suspects used in the robbery.

“Acting on the information provided, officers went on a manhunt for the suspects and after a short while, officers spotted one of the vehicles.

“They immediately gave chase and after a brief chase, the suspect lost control of the car and it overturned.

“He was injured in the accident and had to be transported to the nearest hospital where he is under police guard,” says Masango.

She adds that police officers at the scene recovered firearms used in the robbery and says that police are on the hunt for his accomplices.
