Another stray dog attack

"She immediately chased it away and just when she turned, she saw one of our dogs lying in a pool of blood."

Another case of stray dogs terrorising the community has come to light and has one Greenhills resident furious after one of her dogs was attacked and killed by a vicious stray dog on 15 August in the early hours of the morning.

According to Greenhills resident Ina Labuschagne she was not aware that the strange dog had entered their yard.

“My daughter went outside and saw a huge dog in our yard.

“She immediately chased it away and just when she turned, she saw one of our dogs lying in a pool of blood.

“Needless to say, she was shocked,” says Labuschagne.

She adds that during this time all her gates were locked.

She suspects that the vicious dog jumped over the boundary wall.

“I don’t even know how the dog got into my yard.

“I can only think that it jumped over our wall.

“Dispite the fact that one of my dogs was killed in the attack, I am glad that at least one of them survived.”

According to Labuschagne her other dog sustained major injuries and had to be taken to the Randfontein SPCA for treatment.

“I plead with the community of Randfontein not to let their dogs roam the streets.

“It is a safety risk,” says Labuschagne.

Lucy Philips from the Randfontein SPCA advises residents to entice stray dogs into a secluded area when they come across them and only then call the SPCA.
