Last chance to enter Relay for Life

Time is running out, so enter Randfontein's first ever Cansa Relay for Life.

Time is running out, and now is your last chance to enter Randfontein’s first Cansa Relay for Life event.

This event will take place on 6 September at the Greenhills Sport Stadium and promises to be an exciting yet life-changing experience for everyone who attends.

According to Cansa representative Antoinette de Beer, this event is a great team builder, whether it’s your family, colleagues or friends who form part of the team.

Teams consist of 10 to 15 people. If you do not have enough people for a team, contact your friends or colleagues and ask them to join your team.

“The event will kick off at 6pm on 6 September and runs through the night until 6am the following morning. This is to emphasise that cancer never sleeps and that cancer patients have to deal with this illness even during night time,” says Antoinette.

To enter your team will cost you R750. Those interested are welcome to bring their spouses, friends and family members to form part of the team.

“For those who don’t want to be part of the team, but want to come along for the entertainment and support, the entry fee to the event is R20 per person,” says Antoinette.

Team registration forms and proof of payment should be submitted as soon as possible.

The Relay for Live is not necessarily a race and you certainly do not have to run, unless you want to. So while some of you are walking or running around the track, others can catch a minute of sleep so bring your blankets, sleeping bags and tents.

The organisers of this event urge supporters to stay for as long as possible if you cannot stay for the duration of the 12-hour relay.

There will be food and live entertainment throughout the night, and a jumping castle and games for the children to enjoy.

Each team will be allocated an area of five square metres where they can put up a gazebo. Their team or company branding can be displayed from there. This also can serve as a good marketing exercise for companies.

Cansa will be handing out coffee for a small donation, and cold drinks and sweets also will be on sale.
