All Primary School Pupils can now show their support for the welfare of animals by entering the AACL’s 19th Annual Primary School Poster Competition.
The theme for this year’s competition is animals can count on me.
To enter, primary school pupils have to create posters depicting ways in which people show compassion and kindness to animals, care for them and contribute to improve animals’ lives in positive ways.
Entrants must remember that a poster is a picture with a message and successful posters show how people are kind to animals. A slogan, title or catch phrase can also contribute towards making the message clear. A good poster stands out, is bold, eye-catching and grabs one’s attention.
Pupils can enter in one of four categories. These categories are for pupils from Grade 1 and 2, Grades 3,4 and 5, Grade 6 and 7 and in the last category for special needs schools.
Get creative and draw or paint colorful and original posters depicting the theme: “Animals Can Count on Me” Entrants can use any medium such as paint, pastel, crayon, ink or any other medium they prefer.
Entrants must use A2 or A3 paper only.
Pupils must also clearly print their Name and Surname, Entry Category , Grade and Age as well as their school’s name and contact details on each entry.
Pupils can enter as many times as they like, but a R10 donation should be given with each entry. No cash, only bank deposits or electronic transfers are accepted. This small contribution is a way to help the AACL to continue caring for and protecting animals in need.

The winning poster in each category will walk away with a R2000 cash prize while second place in each category will receive R500.
There are also hundreds of merit prizes and the school with the most entries will win a Canon Colour Laser Printer valued at R12599.
The Top 100 Finalists’ posters will be exhibited on Facebook at www.facebook.com/AACLJHB and you can vote by liking your favorite posters. First Prize winners will be announced on Facebook.
