Randfontein mourns a heroine

She was selfless in her service to others.

The founder of Women Against Women Abuse (WAWA) and Toekomsrus resident Hester Green (59) has sadly passed away on 3 September and leaves many saddened by her death.

This comes after Green suffered a short illness which saw her hospitalized for some time at Leratong Hospital where she later died.

She is the mother of three children and helped more than 3000 people save their families and their marriages as well in and out of her line of duty.

According to Sibongile Ntsoelengoe from Wawa in Mohlakeng, Green has left a legacy behind.

“Green was a beautiful person inside and out and will be dearly missed by her family, colleagues and friends.

“That is one person who made a difference in life and had an amazing work ethic

“She was selfless in her service to others.

“She will dearly be missed,” says Ntsoelengoe

Green started the organization after being inspired by the need to make a change in her community with regards to abuse and substance abuse.

“I saw the effects of alcohol in my community and how it led to the abuse of women and children.

“I knew I had to make a change,” she once said.

She was laid to rest on 14 September at a local cemetery.
