Massive accident leaves motorist seriously injured
A man was trapped in the badly damaged wreckage of a bakkie.
A man is in critical collision after his bakkie was involved in a head-on crash with a minibus taxi on the R24 (Ventersdorp Road) on 21 October.
According to paramedics, they arrived on the scene just before 9pm to find that both vehicles had rolled after the impact.
The bakkie lay on its side and the seriously injured driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was trapped in the badly damaged wreckage of the bakkie.
He was in a critical condition and the jaws of life were used to remove him from the vehicle.
The advanced life support paramedic immediately took over the man’s care as he had sustained significant head trauma, multiple broken bones and internal injuries.
He was handed over to medical staff at Leratong hospital in a critical condition.
The taxi driver and his lone passenger were lucky to escape with only minor injuries.
Both were taken to a nearby hospital for a check-up.
