Deputy president in town for prayers

He says that this was not to canvass for votes but rather to get prayers for a peaceful election and tolarence amongst political parties.

ANC Deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa visited Randfontein on 16 February to get blessings and prayers for the ANC ahead of the national elections scheduled to take place on 7 May

This was at the Mohlakeng Methodist Church where Ramaphosa together with Randfontein Local Municipality Exuctive Mayor Sylvia Thebenare and West Rand District Municipality Executive Mayor Mpho Nawa joined in on the church service.

This also formed part of the party’s programme to engage with its stakeholders in its run-up to the elections.

According to Ramaphosa, this should not be seen as campaigning for the election but rather means of getting blessings for the party.

“The organisation was formed by church leaders in Bloemfontein in 1912, leaders such as John Langalibalele Dube and others and we don’t forget where we come from as the organisation.

“People must know that we are not here to canvas for votes because we respect the church and we are quite aware that this is a place of worship.

“We are here as the ANC to ask for the prayers from the church leaders.

“We request prayers for peaceful elections and tolerance amongst the political parties,” says Ramaphosa

Meanwhile, Reverend Mtshiza from the Methodist church prayed for the politicians and wished them well in their political work.

He emphasized that the church always prays for the leaders of this country, to lead with wisdom from God.
