Westcol students’ status tested
Westcol takes a stand against various illnesses doing the rounds.
Westcol College took a stand against life-threatening diseases such as Aids, TB, high blood pressure and diabetes by hosting a health awareness day for their students.
Tents were erected in a common area on the Westcol premises where officials tested students. They were tested for various illnesses, some laughing and some solemn while anxiously waiting to see if their food and life choices were good ones.
Besides testing the students the college offered family planning guidance. The initiative is run twice a year – Westcol first started the project last year and it has been a great success as students flocked to the testing stations to know their status.
The event was done in partnership and was sponsored by the Department of Higher Education, Carryou Ministry, the Gauteng Department of Health, St Martin, and Pillar of Strength.
