Elvis Blue, Parlotones blow showgoers away

Last day of R'fontein Show blows crowd away.

The last day of the Randfontein Show was the day most showgoers were waiting for as two of the biggest musical acts in South Africa played for people from far and wide.

Elvis Blue was the first of the big acts performing. The crowd started lining up an hour before the show to get a seat close to the action — some stayed in their seats for the next show.

Blue walked on the stage an applause erupted and hands were thrown in the air.

He blew people away with his voice. Veins could be seen on the side of his neck; he put everything he had into his performance. It wasn’t long before he took up his guitar and strummed at the very heartstrings of every man, woman and child in the crowd.

Just when the crowd thought it could not get any better, he got behind the keyboard and and began to sing and play.

The crowd was not only impressed with his singing, keyboard, and guitar ability but were also blown away by his band, in particular the band member who played the saxophone.

After the crowd’s jaws dropped, they eagerly awaited the international acclaimed South African music sensation, The Parlotones.

The herald stepped away for a few minutes trying to steal a break and before we knew it, chairs were being moved closer to the stage. The inside of the Vodacom tent underwent a metamorphosis of note.

Every person wanted to secure a good spot to see the grand finale.

The announcer counted down from 10, nine, eight — people could hardly contain them — seven, six, five — the cheering began way before they even made it on stage — four, three, two, one.

They made it, they were on stage and showgoers went wild. The Parlotones played for approximately one hour and twenty eight minutes and the crowd loved every second of it.

All the classics were played and they played a song especially for the Afrikaans audience; Liza se Klavier.

While they were performing, dedicated fans stood in the picture and autograph line from after the second song just to exchange a few words, snap a picture, and get a signature from the band.

A spectacular end to the Randfontein Show, residents from Randfontein and beyond will not forget this year’s show any time soon.
