Charity appeals for help as winter looms

Our Pantry is in need of food and clothing for an average of 66 people per month.

Our Pantry, a local charity is calling for assistance from good Samaritans willing to help those in need.

Our Pantry is a community project, organised by local churches, that supplies food and clothing to people in need in the Greater Westonaria such as Bekkersdal, Simunye, Venterspost, Hillshaven, Glenharvie, Jachtfontein and Westonaria Borwa.

These areas are referred to Our Pantry by social workers and local clinics.

“The number of people we have assisted each month averages around 66,” said Jacky Jacobs, project organiser.

Due to the increasing number of people that are in need, as well as food prices, the charity is struggling to assist these people.

“With winter drawing near, blankets and any warm clothing would be appreciated. There is so much hunger and poverty among these people. This donation would be a blessing to them,” Jacky said.

Our Pantry also thanks all who assisted and donated to the 2014 feeding scheme namely, Westonaria Local Municipality, local churches, Westonaria Primary School, Westonaria High School, Rotarys and individuals in the community.
