Man and his two daughters killed in crash

Another collision on R41 claims the lives of a family of three.

A father and his two daughters were killed when two vehicles collided head-on on the R41 (Randfontein Road) near the Leratong crossing over the weekend.

According to ER24’s Werner Vermaak “Shortly after 3am on Sunday 12 April paramedics were dispatched to the scene where they found two vehicles severely mangled. On further inspection they found that an adult and two children, believed to be under the age of ten, were killed in the collision. All three of them were still trapped in their vehicle.

“The driver, believed to be the only occupant of the second vehicle, was found hanging from the door of his vehicle. He was in a critical condition. Paramedics freed him from the vehicle and treated him for multiple injuries. After having been stabilised, he was rushed to Leratong Hospital for further treatment.”

“The Watch Tower Society Fire and Rescue services extricated the father and his two daughters from the vehicle. They were all declared dead on the scene.

“Although the exact circumstances of the collision are not yet known, it is understood from a bystander that one of the vehicles started drifting into oncoming traffic. Local authorities will investigate the exact cause of the collision.”
