NPO needs a helping hand

‘We ask the community of Randfontein to please donate anything they can’.

A business on the West Rand recently launched an initiative, the Helping Hand in which citizens are uplifted through an international NPO called Rema – the South African version is Frema.

Rema has been working in South Africa since 1998 and has helped the unemployed, the elderly, those who have problems with drugs and alcohol, prostitutes and the needy. The organisation teaches people skills to find work so they can become contributing members of South Africa.

Frema offers free drug rehabilitation for addicts but due to limited resources, they no longer can facilitate all their patients.

Owner of the business who started the initiative, Garry Saunders said, “We ask the community of Randfontein for donations towards the initiative; be it food, clothing, toys or blankets.

“Please bring donations to 47 Main Reef, Princess, Roodepoort and you will receive a pen – subject to availability – to say thank you for your contribution.

“There are so few people who will help those in need. Mostly the people who donate are those who once were in that situation themselves and know what it’s like to be in major need.”

For more information, or if you would like to donate or volunteer call 011 435 1725 or 060 835 3855 or email remarrsa@gmail.com.
