Three killed, police officer on the run
‘Bodies were dumped at different locations, clearly to defeat the ends of justice’ — IPID.
A constable is being sought by Gauteng police as well as the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) following the killing of three suspects, two of them in Carletonville.
It has been alleged that crime intelligence officers from Benoni were investigating a business robbery when they arrested four suspects.
According to Moses Dlamini, IPID national spokesperson, “It is alleged that one of the suspects was tortured and he died. He was taken to Pholosong Hospital but the hospital refused to admit him as he had already died.”
Dlamini continued “The deceased was put into a police vehicle and was taken to Carletonville.
“The policeman allegedly shot at the other suspects, resulting in the death of the two of them. One survived and he was left for dead. The bodies of the deceased were dumped at different locations, clearly to defeat the ends of justice.”
On Monday (4 May), an informant told police about what had transpired on 17 April. Thereafter, the IPID took over the investigation.
A policeman and civilian have since been arrested. It is said that a civilian and a constable who is armed with an R5 rifle are being sought.
