Body allegedly that of a female aged between 45 and 48.

Police are investigating after the body of a woman was found in an open veld in Aureus.

Randfontein police spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst confirmed, “The body of an unknown female was discovered in an open veld near Mercedes Street in Aureus at approximately 7.30am on Monday last week.

“It is alleged the body is that of a female aged between 45 and 48. It is unclear what transpired before the body was found, since the scene did not exhibit any signs of a struggle.

“The body was removed to the Government Mortuary for the necessary post-mortem and collection of forensic evidence.”

The Investigating officer, Warrant officer Pappas Mhlongo would appreciate any information regarding the identity of the victim and what transpired before the body was discovered. The contact number of the investigating officer is 011 278 8100.
