Bus crash leaves 17 injured

ER24: Driver apparently lost control.

Seventeen people were injured in a bus collision in Wedela outside of Carletonville on Sunday over the weekend.

According to ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak, “At approximately 4.30pm paramedics arrived on scene and found a bus standing on an embankment near Wedela Road. Paramedics found seventeen people with injuries ranging from scrapes and bruises to possible soft tissue injuries.

Bystanders on the scene explained the driver apparently lost control over the bus and veered off the road onto rocks before it came to a halt on top of an embankment near the main road.

“It is believed the passengers from the bus were on their way home after attending church in the local area.”

The exact cause of the incident is not yet known.
