VIDEO: R28 reopened after protest

Heavy police presence at various intersections on R28 following service delivery protest.

The R28 has been reopened after unrest on the road following service delivery issues.

Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson said Public Order Policing members are currently monitoring the situation.

She added that residents are awaiting a meeting with Mzi Khumalo, Rand West City Executive Mayor. The details of the meeting are unknown.

There is a heavy police presence at various intersections on the R28 that may be affected should the protest flare up again.

The road is peppered with stones and boulders taken from islands on the R28 as well the remains of items burnt in the road.
