Constable Nono Boikanyo has been lauded for her sterling investigative work, which led to five successful convictions in one month.
“In an assault case that took place on 30 January, a 24-year-old man was found guilty and sentenced to six months’ imprisonment. The sentence was suspended for three years on condition that the accused does not commit a similar crime in that period,” police said.

The police also said in a burglary case from 15 February, a 23-year-old man was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment, which was wholly suspended for five years on condition that the accused does not commit a similar crime in that period.
“A 34-year-old man was found guilty on a charge of possession of dagga, and was sentenced to a R500 fine or 2 months’ imprisonment, wholly suspended for three years,” police said.
Police said Constable Boikanyo was also successful in the case of 42-year-old man who was sentenced to a fine of R1 000 or 6 months’ imprisonment for the possession of drugs.
“A 26-year-old man was sentenced to a fine of R3 000 or six months’ imprisonment wholly suspended drug possession,” police added.
Acting detective commander, Lieutenant Colonel Steven Ramathlape expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of these investigations and applauded Constable Boikanyo for her dedication and commitment in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
