Alternative ways to travel and save fuel

The fuel price keeps going up! Here are three alternative ways for saving money on fuel ...

While we all try to save on fuel by filling the tank up all the way or not putting our foot down too hard on the pedal, it doesn’t help much any more, so we need to find new ways to save.

Here are three alternative ways to can save money on fuel:

1. Using public transport or commute

Using travelling methods like taxis and the Metrobus to get to work and back can save you a lot of cash. If you work in the city, you can drive halfway and jump on the Gautrain to get to work. It’s worth it to start your day a little earlier when you realise how much you can save.

2. Carpool with the neighbourhood’s parents

Taking your kids to school every morning? It’s a good idea to team up with other parents in the area who drive to the same school as you every morning. You can take turns driving the kids to school.

3. Riding a bicycle or walking

It’s much cheaper to buy a nice bicycle once-off and not have to worry about paying for fuel, and walking around town is even cheaper. Remember to wear an extra jacket and scarf when you ride a bicycle or walk outside in the winter.
