Thousands raised at NG Church event

Almost R40 000 was raised by NG Kerk Middelvlei at their annual Roadhouse and 80's Basaar event during the weekend.

NG Kerk Middelvlei gives God all the glory for enabling them to raise R36 000 at their annual Roadhouse and 80’s Basaar event on Saturday, 4 August.

Adre Viljoen, acting leader of the church said the fundraiser sought to unite all members of the congregation and the community from across Randfontein. He added that the purpose was for people to come with their families, enjoy the activities and socialise.

Verona Venter and Amanda van Rensburg also raised funds for the church by selling delicacies.

“We host this fundraiser every year to enable us to pay our bills and meet various other needs,” Andre said. “We also ask the community to donate their unwanted items and sell them at garage and jumble sales to raise funds.

“These fundraisers are social events as people arrive in their numbers and enjoy the day with other community members. We also cater for the children with activities such as jumping castles and games such as the Win and Spin Wheel, and pellet-shooting and paint-ball competitions with different prizes to be won,” he said.

Keagan Herpst just won himself a prize for spinning the wheel.

“We are happy that people came out to work together and serve others, because that is what God wants,” Andre added.
