Three learners of Avante Primary School scooped big prizes after winning the 2019 Public Speaking Competition held by the Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation at Museum Africa in Johannesburg on Saturday, 8 June.
Rorisang Molotsane, Andile Dingiswayo and Azania Tshangase, all in Grade 7, walked away with trophies, tablets as well as certificates for their tremendous efforts. They competed against learners of 14 other Gauteng schools.
Rorisang also won the Best Speaker award and a book voucher to the value of R1 000.
Olivia Daniels, their English teacher and mentor said after winning the District level by defeating 11 other primary schools on Friday 24 May, the trio proceeded to the Provincial level.
“This is such a big achievement for our school. We are very proud of what they have achieved. This victory has really boasted their confidence, and we wish all learners could compete in these types of challenges,” Olivia added.
