Man loses leg in horror R559 crash in Randfontein

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 1.45pm to find the two vehicles and a man lying in the road. He had lost his leg in the collision — ER24.

A 30-year-old man was transported to a hospital in a critical condition after losing his leg in a horror crash on Thursday afternoon.

Ross Campbell, ER24 spokesperson said the accident took place on the R559 in Randfontein.

He said the victim was pushing a bakkie when a light motor vehicle crashed into them.

Campbell added that ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 1.45pm to find the two vehicles and a man lying in the road. He had lost his leg in the collision. Advanced life support interventions were initiated to stabilise him before he was transported to a private hospital for further treatment.

“The driver of the light motor vehicle, a 59-year-old woman, was found to have suffered moderate injuries and was transported to another private hospital in Krugersdorp,” he said.

Local Traffic Department officers were on scene for further investigations.
