Business targeted by armed gang: Four at large

The four armed robbers got away with cash, cigarettes and airtime vouchers.

Bekkersdal Police have launched a manhunt after four armed robbers targeted a tuck shop late on Tuesday night, 6 October in the Mandela informal settlement.

The four suspects are still at large. According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, the owner and his assistant were inside the shop when they were ambushed by the robbers.

They allegedly pointed firearms at them and ordered them to lie down while they ransacked the place. The robbers took an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register, as well as cigarettes and airtime vouchers before they fled on foot,” Lefakane said.

She added that a case of business robbery is being investigated.
