Man shot in Simunye during robbery

Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson said the victim was robbed of a cellphone and cash.

Bekkersdal Police have opened a case of attempted murder and robbery, after a man was shot on Nkuna Street in Simunye on Saturday night, 17 October.

Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson said the victim was robbed of a cellphone and cash.

“It is alleged that the victim was driving a car when three men ambushed him. One of the thugs fired a shot at him, wounding him. The three took items from the car before feeling on foot,” Lefakane said

She said a case of attempted murder and robbery has since been opened, while investigations are under way.

“The suspects are unknown at this stage, but the police will not rest until they are brought to book and face the full might of the law,” Lefakane said.
