Two men lost their lives in two separate incidents in Carletonville on Sunday, 1 November.
According to Warrant Officer Peter Masooa, the West Rand District Police spokesperson, the Carletonville Police were called to a hospital in the area early that morning where a man had succumbed to his injuries.
Masooa said the victim, a 27-year-old, was assaulted at a bar while drinking. He sustained deep lacerations to his right arm and was bleeding. He was then taken to a hospital in Carletonville and later transferred to another hospital.
“Police are following up on some leads which may lead to an arrest/ arrests.”
The police are asking anyone who might have been at the bar at the time of the incident to come forward with any information.
Later that morning, in a separate incident, a man was found stuck under a fence.
According to Warrant Officer Masooa, the victim had sustained wounds to his head and was declared dead at the scene. No suspects have been arrested as yet.
”Liquor played a part in both these murders. We urge those who use liquor or visit drinking venues/ places to take care and know when enough is enough. Also report any unlawful activity,” said Masooa.
