Three people shot at random – one dead

Police said suspects opened fire on the victims unprovoked.

One man was shot and killed while two others sustained injuries in a shooting incident in the early hours of Saturday 7 November, on Kgomoehlaba Street, in Bekkersdal.

According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal police spokesperson, the incident happened when two unknown armed men randomly and unprovoked opened fire on the three victims.

During the shooting, the three victims started running in different directions, but in the process two people were wounded. One of them was taken to hospital,” Lefakane said.

Lefakane added that the police only discovered the deceased’s body later the same morning, in a yard nearby.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was the third victim who could not be located immediately,” Lefakane added.

Lefakane said the suspects are still at large, while a case of murder and attempted murder was opened against the two.
