Two people were shot and killed during a cash-in-transit heist in Bekkersdal on Tuesday morning, 10 November.
Kenny Mampondo, Rand West City Traffic Chief, confirmed that Panyapanya Road is currently a big crime scene and that the entire road has been sealed off. Gauteng Police are on scene, along with local police and other services.

Herald journalist Tumi Riba, who was at the scene, was told that one of the deceased was a security officer and the other a woman who was driving with her children and got caught in the crossfire. Lefakane added that the thugs had blown up the CIT van, took all the money and fled. They were using high-calibre weapons.

Mampondo confirmed that two traffic officers who were on patrol were also shot at and injured. At this stage it is not clear how many people have been injured.
