Man wanted for raping 16-year-old girl

Late night walk turns into a nightmare for a young girl when she was raped.

A manhunt is under way for a man believed to be involved in the rape of a 16-year-old girl in a veld near Cooke 2 mine in Bekkersdal last year.

Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, the Bekkersdal Police spokesperson said the incident occurred between 8pm and 10pm in November 2020.

“The victim had been walking with her male friend when they were ambushed by two armed men. One of the assailants then forced the victim into an abandoned building to rape her.

The matter was reported to the police and both victims managed to identify one suspect by means of an ID kit. The suspect is said to be approximately 1,65m in height, of medium build, has a dark complexion and was wearing a blue cap and a blue jersey.”
