Increase in crime this past week – Mapogo

Mapogo has noticed an increase in crime over the past week, especially housebreaking and attempted housebreaking.

Mapogo A Mathamaga Security in Randfontein released its latest crime report for the period from Tuesday, 19 January to Saturday, 23 January.

Six incidents were reported.

According to Herman Coetzee, operations manager at Mapogo, they have noticed an increase in crime over the past week, especially housebreaking and attempted housebreaking.

“There were two incidents of attempted housebreaking in Homelake and in the Randfontein CBD respectively; one incident of common theft in Randpoort; two incidents of housebreaking and theft in West Porges and Greenhills respectively; as well as one incident of shoplifting at a business in the Randfontein CBD.

According to our system the criminal activity occurs during the day and night at no specifically identifiable times. We are asking Mapogo clients to please phone our control room and test their alarm systems in order to ensure that they are in working order,” said Coetzee.
