Three arrested with stolen police equipment in their possession

Three suspects were arrested for allegedly stealing computer equipment from the Bekkersdal Detectives in Westonaria on Tuesday, 16 February.

Three suspects were arrested for stealing computer equipment from the Bekkersdal Police Detectives in Westonaria earlier this week.

According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, the Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, the suspects aged between 33 and 36 were caught with five computer boxes, three monitors and one laptop on Tuesday, 16 February.

Members of our Detectives Department were tipped off that the suspects were selling the computer equipment around Bekkersdal. The police swiftly responded and managed to arrest and recover the property,” Lefakane said.

She added that it is believed that the items were stolen between Thursday 11 and Friday 12 February at 5.30am, while detectives were conducting other investigations.

“The three suspects are scheduled to appear in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court soon after they have been charged with business burglary and possession of stolen property.”
