Foundation scouts for vocal talent

The Westown Prays Foundation is on a mission to restore hope among youngsters in Rand West City by offering a platform to showcase their singing talents.
Founder, Pastor Khuliswa Moeletsi, said there are many talented young people whose talents are not appreciated.
“Some end up singing at places like taverns because they don’t get an opportunity to exhibit what they can do,” Moeletsi said.
She explained that after those with potential have been identified, they will be tested through a series of auditions and receive vocal training from a professional vocal coach.
So far, singers between the ages of 18 and 35 have been selected for the choir.
“I thought if we established something like this for the young people then perhaps hope will be restored.”
Moeletsi said they visit prisons and rehab centres where they hold sessions to offer young addicts and those in prison the chance to turn around their lives.
“We’ve discovered that most who are caught up in drugs or are living a life of crime became involved because they were bored.”
She said part of the mission is to gather believers from various churches to help scout the untapped talent.
“There are so many talented young people in communities – the kind of talent that these young people could use to better position themselves in life; and not lead a life of drugs or crime.
“We want to see them grow. Westown Prays is just a foundation, but we want to see them moving and doing better things with their lives,” Moeletsi said.
