DJ Deep C@fe lays down challenge
'I would like to be remembered as one of the best DJs that South Africa has had to offer.'
Thato Tebogo Mogane aka DJ Deep C@fe said he might not be well-known in the game yet, but he will give his rivals a good run for their money.
Born in a village called Mphenyatsatsi in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga, the 34-year-old came to Randfontein in 2018 hoping to boost his career.
C@fe said growing up he looked up to DJ Fresh for his distinct taste in music. He used this as inspiration to change his signature sound that resonates with him today.
“I used to play at local nightclubs and taverns during weekends, and at the moment I’m one of the resident DJs at a night club in town,” C@fe said.
Although he only became a DJ recently, he’s still glad that his dream is well within his grasp.
It truly means a lot being a DJ because you’re sharing music that can help people heal, or simply re-evaluate their lives deeply. When I play, I play for the soul. Not just for the fun of it,” C@fe said.
He is well aware of the challenges and the fierce competition in the industry, and would like to give those with the potential a fair chance – by getting more exposure. He would like to this by launching his own recording studio in the near future and taking amateur DJs under his wing.
“For as long as one has the passion and drive for it, that’s all that matters. Being a DJ doesn’t require much personality or attributes, you must just love what you do.
“Not only would I like to be remembered as one of the best DJs that South Africa has had to offer, I’d like also to be remembered as someone who has helped many to become known in the game. Music has always been my passion and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me,” C@fe concluded.
