New journey for our Mr Junior South Africa 2021 runner-up
Youngster from Toekomsrus beat 19 other boys to grab second place at 2021 Mr Junior South Africa.
The future looks bright for 13-year-old Luthando Duma who secured second place in the Mr Junior South Africa 2021 competition held at the Eagle Crest Lodge in Edenvale on Saturday, 27 March.
The youngster beat 19 other boys and not surprisingly, Randfontein rallied behind him.
The 13-year-old of Toekomsrus who is a Grade 7 learner at West Gold Primary School said he is proud to have rubbed shoulders with some of the best during the finals, adding that finishing second in the competition is a victory for him.
“I am honestly proud to have been recognised this way because this is the beginning of my journey,” the proud and elated Luthando said.
In his very short stint on the catwalk, Luthando has won titles such as Mr Whimsical and wants to go on to push more boundaries.
“I love the idea of modelling and doing pageants, and although I don’t admire anyone in particular, I want to be a role model to others with similar dreams,” Luthando said.

Speaking of the moment he was announced as the first runner up, Luthando described it as ‘dream-like’ and ‘unbillable’.
“The guys I competed against were older than I am. I am glad that I faced them in a big competition without fear and bravely; I chose not to falter and be the best I could be.”
Luthando went on to thank his mother, Rosemary Duma, and his aunt, Thembi Ncama for always showing their unwavering support.
“This also goes for my coaches from Vogue Randfontein, Samantha Carelse and Rodney Nimmo. They’ve been willing to go the extra mile for me, and just want to say thank you so much,” Luthando said.
