Livestock worth over R200 000 stolen, some slaughtered

Five heads of cattle were found slaughtered in an open veld after they had been stolen from a farm in Kalabasfontein in Westonaria.

Five heads of cattle were found slaughtered in an open veld after they had been stolen from a farm in Kalabasfontein in Westonaria on the early hours of Monday, 12 April.

According to Sergeant Audrey Sefara, Westonaria Police spokesperson two cows and 10 sheep were among the livestock stolen from the same property. The estimated value of the stolen livestock is about R245 000.

“A case of livestock theft has been opened, but at this moment we don’t have any leads or any suspects. We urge community members who have any information to contact the police on 082 463 7235,” Sefara said.
