Birthday bash to show kids love and care
Two children under the care of Door of Care and Safety recently celebrated their birthdays.
Two children in the care of Door of Care and Safety celebrated their birthdays at the Cottage Lodge in Greenhills on Saturday, 24 April.
According to the organisation’s Facebook page, their aim is to rescue and receive any abandoned, abused and orphaned babies and children. The little girl and a boy whose identity cannot be revealed were turning two and 10 years respectively.

According to Ramona van der Heever, one of the founders of the Door of Care and Safety, both children were very excited.
“We thank everyone who made the day special. As the centre that takes care of children who are vulnerable, this means a lot to us. We appreciate that people opened their hearts because we are not always able to do it due to financial constraints.”

Ramona added they were not just overjoyed to have celebrated their birthdays, but that other kids could also enjoy an outing – at least 13 of them.
“We would like to thank the community for the support they’ve shown every year,” she added.
Sinead Hall, Miss Teen South Africa 2021 who sponsored the jumping castle, the cake, goodies and refreshments said this was something close to her heart as she wanted to do something meaningful for those who are not as privileged as she is – like the children in the care of the centre.
“I’m happy that something like this will help the children feel special and loved,” Sinead said.

Geraldine Mcfarlane, manager of Cottage Lodge said they have sponsored the celebrations simply because they wanted to show especially the vulnerable children that they care a lot.
“Sponsoring things such as this is always a pleasure for us,” Geraldine added.
