One killed, five injured in three-vehicle crash

A man died and five others were injured in a three-vehicle crash in Westonaria over the weekend.

A three-vehicle collision between Westonaria and Vereeniging on Sunday evening, 2 May left one dead and five others injured.

According to Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on scene at 11.03pm to find one vehicle in the road and two other vehicles on the side of the road.

“On closer inspection, paramedics found a man lying inside one of the vehicles but unfortunately he had already succumbed to his injuries and nothing could be done for him,” Meiring said.

He stated that five others were assessed and found to have sustained moderate to serious injuries.

“The patients were treated and provided with pain relief before they were transported to nearby hospitals for further care,” said Meiring.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
