Plenty housebreaking and thefts reported – Mapogo warns

Mapogo said a large number of homeowners do not utilise their alarms whilst at home during the night, leaving them vulnerable.

Mapogo A Mathamaga Security in Randfontein released its crime report for the period from Tuesday, 27 April to Monday, 3 May.

According to Ben Willemse, operations manager at Mapogo, four serious incidents were reported for their client base – three of which were housebreaking and theft in the Hectorton, Culemborg Park and Finsbury areas respectively, and there was one incident of trespassing in West Porges that led to an arrest.

He explained that property owners need to ensure that their alarm systems are fully functional as well as tested regularly.

“Remember to always activate your alarm even when you are at home, as criminals use this opportunity to infiltrate your premises. A large number of homeowners do not utilise their alarms whilst at home during the night,” Ben said.
