According to Sergeant Hendricks, the Randfontein Police spokesperson, the body was discovered on 16 October last year.
“The unknown male has identification marks and tattoos on his left upper arm that read ‘Angel by day, devil by night’, and the word ‘Punk’ is tattooed on his left fingers. We are looking for his family, but so far no one has reported him missing,” Hendricks said.
At the time, the Herald spoke to Frederick Mckenzie, a Mapogo security manager at Tambotie Mall, who said he had discovered the body while doing his security patrols.
“I saw something that looked like a body floating on the water. When I got closer, I realised that indeed it was a human; it was the body of a man lying face down. That’s when I got my security personnel to inform the police to come out,” Mckenzie said.
Hendricks appealed to those who have any information about the deceased to contact detective Warrant Officer Thebe on 072 155 3906, Randfontein Police on 011 414 4992 or 011 412 7666 or 071 675 7094, or make use of the my SAPS app or the Crime Stop number on 0860 010 111 to report crime anonymously.
