EPR had to bid farewell to one of their own after a tragic event this past weekend when one of their reaction officers was killed in the line of duty.

Johan Krogh, General Manager at EPR confirmed to the Herald on Monday that one of their reaction officers sadly lost his life on Friday night, 28 May.

According to Krogh, the reaction officer responded to an alarm at a residence on De Villers Street, Westonaria where the incident occurred.

He made contact with the residents and confirmed that everything was in order at the premises, and got back into his vehicle,” said Krogh.

While the reaction officer was giving feedback to the control centre, two assailants presumably fired shots at him through his closed vehicle window.

“A member of the public contacted the EPR control centre and told them what had happened,” he said.

Johan stated that EPR management and the reaction officer’s colleagues sympathise with the family, and mourn the loss of another hero who had put his life on the line daily.
