Police are investigating a case of murder after a 36-year-old man was shot and killed at a tuck shop in the Tambo informal settlement in Bekkersdal last Thursday, 29 May.
Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, the Bekkersdal Police spokesperson confirmed the incident took place at about 10pm.
“An argument between the victim and two other men ensued during which one of the men produced a firearm and shot the victim. The suspect fled the scene. The police were called and a case of murder was opened immediately. The motive for the killing, however, is currently unknown,” Lefakane said.
Police have since launched a manhunt and urged the public to assist them with any information relating to the incident that could help with the arrest of the culprit.
“We’re appealing to the public not to try and apprehend the suspect as he is deemed to be armed and dangerous.
