Another business on board for the SPCA

MyRide Nissan and Datsun in Randfontein embarked on a drive for the next month to collect essentials for RandWest SPCA as a challenge to the public.

After Jaco de Clercq of Henry’s Properties challenged local businesses to do their bit to assist the financially ailing NGO, management of the car dealership has come up with their own way of helping.

During the month of June, the business has committed to using its premises as a drop-off point for all items residents of Rand West City wish to donate to the SPCA.

“The idea is to do the drive for the whole month, and do the official handover on Saturday, 3 July,” Lientjie Engelbrecht, Finance and Insurance Manager said.

Lientjie said they hope to receive donations not only for the animals, but for the NGO to be operational on a regular basis. “Animals are very close to our hearts, so we’d definitely like to assist the RandWest SPCA in every way possible for them to keep their doors open.”

Theo van der Walt, MyRide Nissan and Datsun Randfontein sales manager said, “We will put up a box at our premises where people can leave their donations”.

He added that My Ride is also proud to be a mouthpiece for the animals to plead with the public to ultimately help the vulnerable animals.

“We are committing ourselves to making a donation on the day of the handover – but we’ll keep it as a surprise for now. That day we will treat animal lovers and their pets to music and refreshments.”

He said while the business is still recovering from the impact of Covid-19, animals are the ones that are most affected.

“They cannot speak for themselves, so this is why we are their mouthpiece.

“We want to uplift the SPCA, so that their doors remain open and they can serve the community; but to achieve this, we need the help of Randfonteiners to join hands with us,” Theo said.
