Horror crash claims two lives, four others injured

A crash between four light motor vehicles and a truck in Carletonville on the far West Rand left two dead and four injured, including a child.

Two men were killed and four others injured, among them an 11-year-old boy when four light motor vehicles and a truck collided at the intersection of Kaolin and Annan Streets in Carletonville on Wednesday, 2 June.

Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson said that ER24 paramedics and the Provincial Services arrived on scene shortly after 4pm and found a truck on the side of the road with a light motor vehicle partially wedged beneath it. Three other light motor vehicles were in the middle of the intersection.

“Medics assessed the patients and found that the truck driver and the driver of the vehicle beneath the truck had already succumbed to their numerous injuries. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for them and they were declared dead.”

He explained that the four other patients including an 11-year-old boy were assessed and found to have sustained moderate injuries. They were treated and thereafter transported to nearby hospitals for further care.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
