Police conclude Child Protection Week in Mohlakeng/ Elandsvlei
'It is everyone's responsibility to make sure that children everywhere are protected' – police to public as they conclude Child Protection Week.
Randfontein Police concluded Child Protection Week by visiting churches in Mohlakeng and Elandsvlei on Sunday, 6 June.
Sergeant Carmen Hendricks, the Randfontein Police spokesperson said during the visits, police reiterated that children should be protected from child abuse and neglect, kidnapping, human trafficking, sexual offences and violence.
Gender-based violence, drugs, children’s rights and the exploitation of children through child labour were also addressed.
“As the police we are committed to ensurìng children’s safety and their well-being. We did this as an integrated multidisciplinary approach because we wanted the public to know that it is everyone’s responsibility to make sure that children everywhere are protected,” Hendricks said.
She went on to say the congregation, especially the children, were educated not to talk to strangers, or accept a lift or any goodies them.
“The police urged the congregation to continue to report any suspected child abuse, neglect or exploitation,” Hendricks added.
