WATCH: Minister of Social Development gets her Covid-19 jab in Randfontein

National Minister of Social Development Lindiwe Zulu receives her Covid-19 jab in Randgate.

 National Minister of Social Development, Lindiwe Zulu was vaccinated at the Randgate Clinic last Thursday, June 10.

The minister was joined by the CEO of Sassa, Totsie Memela-Khambula and several persons aged 60 and above, as part of Phase 2 of the Mass Vaccination Programme currently under way countrywide.

Recent data from the Department of Health show that five of the nine provinces, namely Free State, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape and North West each has a test positivity of above 10%.

Zulu is a member of the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) on Vaccines that was established to promote mass vaccination. She reassure members of the public about the safety of the vaccines. With the third wave on us, Zulu’s vaccination drive seeks to promote the public-health benefits of Covid-19 vaccines and to alleviate vaccine hesitancy.

She reiterated her call for all South Africans to continue to comply with the prescribed non-pharmaceutical interventions: social distancing, wearing masks at all times, and washing hands.

“Getting vaccinated is an important part of the solution to the pandemic. We appeal to all South Africans across the country to strictly comply with all regulations and protocols,” she said.
