RSS raises R3 000 to help school’s fight against Covid-19

Representative Council of Learners (RCL) at Randfontein Secondary School (RSS) in Toekomsrus raised R3 000 to help fight Covid-19.

A total of R3 000 was handed over to management of Randfontein Secondary School (RSS) in Toekomsrus on Tuesday July 27 to help in the fight against Covid-19.

According to liaison officer and a teacher at the school, Oscar Oliphant, the funds were raised by learners of the Representative Council of Learners (RCL) at the school. Learners were allowed to wear casual clothes to school for a fee to be paid at the gate.

The theme of the fundraiser was ‘Tekkies and Jeans’.

“The RCL was fully in charge of the event, including collecting the funds at the gate. Gloria Henry accepted the proceeds on behalf of the school,” Oscar said.

He added that the welcome gesture sought to help management of the school eliminate the virus by procuring sanitizers in addition to the stock bought with school funds.

Oscar also thanked local businesses who have made donations, especially A Louse Enterprise (Pty) Ltd which sponsored the official handover event at the school, as well as JNG Projects that sponsored some of the blazers.

“On behalf of the whole school, we would like to thank these learners for choosing to support such an important matter. This demonstrates their leadership, selflessness and care for fellow learners, the school and the community. We are extremely thankful to them,” Oscar added.
