GBV victim actually the suspect in another case

The victim is a suspect in two cases pertaining to the incident that happened on the same day.

Randfontein Police have confirmed to the Herald that a case of gender-based (GBV) violence was opened by a victim, who is now a suspect in two cases.

This after the victim was allegedly pressurised by investigating officers to drop a case and even accept bribes.

According to Sergeant Carmen Hendricks, spokesperson of the Randfontein Police, two cases were opened against the victim – resulting in three cases relating to the same incident.

“We confirm that the victim opened a case, but the same victim is a suspect in two other cases involving the same incident, which happened on the same date and at the same time,” Hendricks said.

Hendricks said all three cases were brought before the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday August 18 for a decision to be made by the Magistrate.

“The matter was addressed and allocated to an officer who will handle the investigations,” Hendricks added.
