A 31-year-old man was shot in the foot during a house robbery on Irma Street, Greenhills Extension 3 early on Saturday morning, October 30.

According to Randfontein Police spokesperson Sergeant Carmen Hendricks, the incident happened at about 02:00 when the victim heard noises in his house. Upon investigating he discovered two intruders, one of them with a firearm.
“A fight broke out between the man and the intruders and they shot the victim in the foot. They instructed him to lie down while they ransacked the house,” Sergeant Hendricks said.
The robber got away with cell phones and a laptop. It is believed that they gained entry by forcing open the sliding door of the living room.

West Rand District Police commissioner Major General Fred Kekana condemned the incident and requested the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the arrest of the robbers.
