‘Jealousy’ causes a woman’s death

Young siblings charged with woman's murder in the Bundu Inn informal settlement near Aureus.

Two sisters aged 15 and 20 were arrested for the murder of a 20-year-old woman in the Bundu Inn informal settlement near Aureus.

According to Randfontein Police spokesperson Sergeant Carmen Hendricks, the victim was stabbed with a knife and a bottle during a fight at a local tavern on Friday April 29.

The victim went outside the tavern and a fight started between her and the two sisters,” Sergeant Hendricks said. Allegedly the victim and the 15-year-old were at each other’s throats for some time all because of a boyfriend.

After the victim had been stabbed she went into the tavern to tell her friend who attacked her. Her friend then took her to Mohlakeng Clinic where she succumbed to her injuries.

Brigadier Mashole Manamela, the Randfontein Police station commander, condemn this kind of behaviour and encouraged community members to come forward with information and to report gender-based violence to their nearest police station.
