Early-morning robbery at Tambotie Mall

Police discovered that the robbers were targeting expensive perfumes.

Randfontein Police are investigating a case of business robbery after armed robbers targeted Dis-Chem Pharmacy in Tambotie Mall on Friday May 20 at around 05:00.

According to the police the armed robbers who used two different BMWs overpowered and blindfolded an on-duty security guard before holding him hostage in one of their vehicles while others robbed the store.

After breaking the front window they only stole expensive perfume from the store,” Sergeant Carmen Hendricks said.

When the robbers returned to their vehicles they told the security guard to get out, and they sped off.

“When he went back into the mall, he found the front window of Dis-Chem broken. At this stage we do not have a description of any of the vehicles,” Hendricks said.

Police are urging the community to come forward with any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects. They can contact 011 414 4992 or the Crime Stop line on 08600 10111. Also use the SMS line 32211 or provide information via the My SAPS app and remain anonymous.
